Getting Back in the Game after a Hip or Knee Replacement
Just how much activity following joint replacement surgery is too much? While many patients who undergo a hip or knee replacement may wish to return to athletic activity after surgery, they should understand that some activities may reduce the longterm survival of their implants. While implant wear has been shown to be related to use of the joint more than to the duration of implantation, it is not completely clear how much activity or what type of activities are most detrimental.
